First Day of Preschool
August 29,2011: Haleigh's 1st day of Preschool at LUMP-K. She was so excited…she was still up at 10:30 last night and she was awake at 6:45 (not typical sleeping patterns of her). She had her dress picked out the night before. She was ready!! She really wasn’t in the mood to have her picture taken but we tried! I like how Jamesey is just grinning in the background. Oh, and the wings…not sure why those were so important this morning but they had to be on for the pictures. She was a bit stumped when I told her she couldn’t wear them to school but she got over it pretty quick.
James had to bring his backpack to school too. There wasn’t a thing in it but he wore it proudly. I just love how they held hands on the way in. Let’s just say that James did enough crying for all of us. He did not want her to go to school without him. Makes my heart warm that he loves her that much…
She really did have a great first day of school. She loves her teacher, Mrs. Hanna, and she was going on and on about all of her new friends. I asked her what her favorite part was and she said it was the playground and snack. Go figure! ;)

Celebrating 8…
We got to celebrate our 8th Anniversary a little early this weekend. We had a great time. It was so nice to spend time with Chris—just me and him! We dropped the kids off at Grammy and Pap Pap’s (big HUGE thank you, by the way) and headed off to Pittsburgh.
First stop, the Omni William Penn Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh. It was beautiful. The architecture was amazing…I wish I had spent a little time looking around more but we had other fun stuff to do…
We took a walk down to the strip district to check out the local vendors. Can I tell you that I had the best pepperoni roll I have ever had? It was 2lbs…I couldn’t eat it all but oh my goodness. I can see myself craving one of those stinkin’ things.
We headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at the LeMont on top of Mount Washington. We rode the incline up. The view was gorgeous. I must admit my hands were a bit sweaty on the way up but it was worth it. My dinner was awesome…I had the filet. Chris ordered a hen and it was reminiscent of the turkey from Christmas vacation. Luckily, I didn’t catch him dipping it in his water!! HaHa! But we still had a great dinner. The view was, again, beautiful. They brought us a complimentary piece of anniversary cake.
Can you say…crazy wild hair?! When the guy was taking our picture I said something about how my hair felt like it was blowing around everywhere and he said…”It looks great!” Well, look again, buddy! LOL I guess that’s what happens when you hand your camera over to a stranger! :)
And then the real fun began…we headed back to to the hotel again for a complete transformation…our Steeler Bibs!! It was so much fun wearing them (thank you, Chris). The game, especially being a night game, was fantastic!
Kneeling for a post game prayer…pretty cool.
And then we walked back to the hotel…again (our dogs were barking) to crash. I slept in until 9:00! Been a long time since I’ve done that! It was awesome. I think our trip was too short! I had so much fun with ya, Chris! It was a wonderful mini moon! :)
We went back to Weirton to pick up the kids and they surprised me with an early Birthday day cake and lunch before we hit the road. Thanks for such a nice surprise! It was a pleasant way to end our weekend!
To top the weekend off, the kids were the proud recipients of some Steelers gear…

The kids (aka Chris’s) new toys
First of all, my house has been overtaken by nerf darts…Chris got James his first. Since then we have acquired 3 smaller guns and 51 additional darts. They are all over the place and we are all, oddly, addicted to playing with the stinkin’ things! Haleigh was very proud of the above picture. Not so sure how I feel about that! ;)
And then we have this large airplane to fly around if the wind and the strength behind the throw (no one but Chris is successful at this) is just right. Lot of fun for us though!
