The night before James’ 2nd Birthday! Unbelievable how fast time has gone by. Bittersweet…
The three of us had so much fun adding all the candy to the train cake that YaYa made! Perfect combination for him—candy and trains!

This a picture of James’ head. Look close and you will see sprinkles in his hair! Let’s just say that bottle of sprinkles didn’t last long around him.
This was at the church, making Valentine cookies with friends. We had so much fun. There can never be too much icing on a cookie (or sprinkles) according to Haleigh!

Yes, it looks like I’m skipping some numbers. Technically, I am. I’m just trying to catch up quickly. I’ll go back to the others.
I love the blurry Haleigh in the background…

06 who THEY love
'
what makes her smile…the mere mention of Chris’s name. I was trying to get her to smile and the only way it worked was when I started talking about her Daddy. He puts the twinkle in her eye for sure! This picture though…doesn’t she look so different?!

05 love to hate
Today we were supposed to capture something we love to hate about our loved ones. I love the fact that my children play, get creative, have fun…I hate it when I step on their fun. Have you ever stepped on one of these?! OUCH!! When I stepped on way today, I knew I had my picture.

04 what they wear
Nothing too sentimental today…just a no brainer for this weekend! Haleigh, who is typically in sparkly shoes, and pink tutus, buckled down and said, “I’m a Steelers girl!” Yes, sweetie, you are! You must know that this is very impressive for her because she is not typically one to wear stuff like this.

03 then and now
The subject for day 3 of the joy of love challenge is to photograph someone that represents then and now. I thought long and hard about how I would photograph this…
So I start with my sweet Jamesy:
I had him put on his birth hat…surprisingly he loved wearing it even though it is clearly too tight. It certainly shows the “then and now.” February is his birth month so it has been almost two years since he wore that hat for the the first time. Two years since our second little blessing graced us with his presence.
And then there is my sweet Haleigh. Our first little blessing. I had her put on her hospital bracelet to show how much she is grown in her four years. Can you believe how tiny she was? If you look, that bracelet would barely fit over my thumb. She was only 5.6 oz when she born. My life has certainly changed since 1/16/2007. Becoming a mother has given me the greatest joy I have ever known! There is nothing more amazing than holding your newborn baby in your arms for the first time. God’s grace was evident that day and every day that I look at Haleigh or James. I see His grace in their smiles, their laughs, and their wonderment. What precious gifts I have. I just can’t believe how fast they grow!

day 02 of joy of love: how they look
Capture your loved ones at their best (or at their worst). Or both. What you’re trying to capture is the TRUE essence/expression/attitude/posture that SCREAMS your loved one.
Tonight I just tried to get honest to goodness smiles. Not the fake, cheesy ones! I think this was successful. You can see the fun they were having; there is nothing artificial about these smiles. The kids always love bath time. Their giggles always echo loudly through the bathroom.
I love the one of James blowing the bubbles out of his hand. You could see the wonderment in his eyes; taking pleasure in the simplest things in life. If only we all took suck pleasure out of such things. And the one of Haleigh laughing a true “from the belly laugh.” Those are the moments to be treasured…

Day One of finding the JOY!
“are you ready to get in on the JOY this february?”
That’s the headline over at Willette Photography and More.
I’m so excited to be participating in her month long class called: finding the JOY! It should be a nice way to continue on in my 365 project. It’s not too late to sign up if you might be interested too! Just click on the link above!
Today was day one. I had to start with Chris…after all, the class is called “the joy of love” and he is a true joy. The first assignment was called: What They Do:
What does he {Chris} do? He does lots of things: He takes out the trash even though the drive is a solid sheet of ice; he works 60+ hours a week to make sure we have what we need; he warms our hearts just by smiling; but most importantly, he wraps us in his arms and loves us…unconditionally. For that I am truly grateful! I
love my hubby and I figured he was the perfect place to start in my finding the JOY class.
There is no other place Haleigh would rather be than wrapped up in the arms of her daddy. I am thankful for the joy that I see in his eyes when he holds her, laughs with her, and loves her.
I have lots of pictures to add of the ice that has covered our area. I will post those in the morning. I must call it a night for now…
